Annex 1 of the European Construction Products Regulation (CPR) contains the basic requirements for construction works. A key requirement is the sustainable use of natural resources.

This results in requirements regarding the impact on soil and water (ABuG), which are laid down at national level in the model administrative provisions for technical building rules (M VV TB).

Manufacturers of construction products can have the necessary tests carried out at the MFPA Leipzig GmbH to demonstrate compliance with environmental protection requirements.

For this purpose, working group “Environmental and water protection, sustainability” has been divided into its three eponymous areas.

You can find more detailed information in the description of our working groups below.

We carry out tests for you on products from the wastewater and stormwater sector on the basis of national and international norms and standards or according to individual customer requirements. Our holistic concept includes the testing of material properties, the testing of individual components as well as the testing of component combinations and systems.

  • Recognized PÜZ body according to LBO and EU-BauPVO and DAkkS accredited testing laboratory as well as DAkkS accredited inspection body for domestic and foreign certifiers for pipes, fittings, manholes made of concrete/reinforced concrete, plastic and stoneware, manhole covers, processes and products for rehabilitation, drainage channels and seals made of elastomers
  • Testing and inspection body for plastic pipes and manholes recognized by Deutsche Bahn AG and the Federal Railway Authority (EBA)
  • Application-oriented tests to prove usability, e.g. within the scope of tests for obtaining a general technical approval, such as the simulation of load conditions of grounded pipes, shafts and other civil engineering structures and stresses during operation, determination of resistance to abrasion and impact stresses.

Our range of services for you includes a broad spectrum of geotechnical testing in earthworks, foundation engineering, civil engineering, road construction and landfill construction on the basis of national and international norms and standards or according to individual requirements.

Preservation of evidence and recording of conditions, subsoil and foundation assessments, damage reports – not only in the area of traffic areas – as well as the monitoring and certification of building materials are part of our service profile. In addition to regulated building materials, we can also offer you our services for the quality assurance of new types of building materials (e.g. temporarily flowable, self-compacting backfill building materials).

  • Recognized PÜZ body according to LBO and EU-BauPVO for all aggregates in concrete (including alkali guideline) and in road construction
  • DAkkS accredited testing laboratory for the determination of geometrical and mechanical-technological properties of aggregates
  • According to RAP-Stra recognized testing laboratory for soils, including soil improvements, aggregates, building material mixtures for layers without binders and for earthworks

Environmental protection

Within the scope of legally required verifications, this area tests construction products such as crack fillers, soil or curtain injection agents (injection resins), bonded waterproofing, liquid-applied waterproofing (liquid plastics), structural waterproofing, waterproofing membranes and roof coverings.

To analyse the release of hazardous substances, tests such as column leaching in accordance with DIN 19631, dynamic surface leaching (DSLT) in accordance with DIN EN 16637 or in accordance with Blauer Engel criterias such as DE-UZ 233 or DE-UZ 224 are carried out.

Water protection

In the area of water protection, the focus is on the protection of our waters and thus in particular on compliance with the requirements of the Water Resources Act (WHG) and the Ordinance on Installations that handle Substances Hazardous to Water (AwSV) for structures and building products.

In this context, coating and sealing systems such as repair products, joint seals, seals of

penetrations for collecting trays, collecting spaces and concrete surfaces in plants for the storage, filling and transfer of water-polluting liquids (LAU facilities) as well as agricultural and biogas plants are tested and monitored by the MFPA Leipzig GmbH as a recognised testing and monitoring body (PÜZ body) in accordance with the state building regulations.

Sustainability

The Sustainability department brings together all activities aimed at reducing the carbon footprint of MFPA’s testing procedures. With this approach, the tests themselves are intended to make a contribution to environmental protection and give customers the opportunity to act in a climate-conscious and environmentally friendly manner as early as the approval phase.

Tests for the preparation of Environmental Product Declarations (EPD) for e.g. polymer-modified bitumen thick coatings, fibre cement / fibre concrete or coatings with organic binders are also included in the portfolio of work group.

The aim is to provide the evidence required for the sustainable use of limited natural resources for your construction products in accordance with European construction law, in line with the circular economy concept, together with environmental and water protection.

The establishment of work group marks a step with a signalling effect in the direction of environmental protection and quality assurance within the MFPA. Construction companies and manufacturers can rely on an experienced and reliable consulting and service provider to ensure that their products and processes meet the highest standards in terms of environmental compatibility and safety.
