Testing of safety against ball throwing

In MFPA Leipzig’s testing laboratory, safety against ball throwing is tested in accordance with DIN 18032 Part 3. This test is generally required for construction elements intended for use in halls for gymnastics, sports and multi-purpose usage.

Construction elements are deemed to be safe against ball throwing if they continuously exhibit no significant changes to their elements or frame when subjected to mechanical stress by balls.

We test objects including:

  • Wall and ceiling claddings
  • Doors
  • Windows
  • Ventilation grilles
  • Lights
  • Clocks
  • Other items on request

Testing is carried out using a ball-firing machine. This standard test equipment fires handballs and hockey balls at the test specimens at particular angles. The resulting stresses are then evaluated. The results are documented in a test report.
