Testing of the smoke-tightness of smoke barriers in accordance with EN 1634-3:2004

We perform standardised test procedures at our test centre in accordance with EN 1634¬3:2004 in order to determine the smoke-tightness of your smoke barriers (doors, windows, partitions). The leakage rate Qspec(20) or Qspec(200) is determined in [m³/h] in accordance with EN 1634-3:2004 section 10.2. From this it is possible to determine and assess the leakage of cold and hot smoke from one side of the barrier to the other under specified test conditions.


Generally speaking, a smoke protection door or window structure that you have installed into a test frame is studied in various load situations:


  • At room temperature: 20°C; side A is exposed to pressure
  • At room temperature: 20°C; side B is exposed to pressure
  • At increased temperature: 200°C; side A is exposed to pressure
  • At increased temperature: 200 °C; side B is exposed to pressure

Various differential pressure levels – 10 Pa, 25 Pa and, if applicable, 50 Pa – are then approached in the test.
