Sound walls – testing the acoustic properties

MFPA Leipzig GmbH is recognised, accredited and notified in Germany as a testing body for noise-reduction devices on roads in accordance with DIN EN 14388. Working Group Sound insulation conducts all acoustic tests on sound walls and sound-wall facing panels, collaborating with Working Group Experimental Structural Mechanics to prepare the initial type test required for the CE marking.

Our services

We offer the following tests for the preparation of an initial type test (ITT) for noise-reduction devices on roads:

  • Sound absorption under diffuse sound-field conditions (DIN EN 1793-1)
  • Airborne sound insulation under diffuse sound-field conditions (DIN EN 1793-2)
  • In-situ values for sound diffraction under directed sound-field conditions (DIN EN 1793-4)
  • In-situ values for sound reflection under directed sound-field conditions (DIN EN 1793-5)
  • In-situ values of airborne sound insulation under directed sound-field conditions (DIN EN 1793-6)

We offer the following tests for railway applications of sound walls:

  • Sound absorption and airborne sound insulation in accordance with the German Railway Guideline 804.5501 (required in order to obtain an approval from the German Federal Railway Authority)
  • Acoustic testing in accordance with the DIN EN 16272 series of standards
