A development and demonstration project concerning environmentally and economically exemplary production of additional biogas from biogenic residual materials by introducing innovative oval reactor systems made of steel fibre concrete was conducted together with the Fraunhofer Institute for Ceramic Technologies and Systems (IKTS) and Werner Stowasser Bau GmbH.
Our tasks were to determine the properties of fresh and hardened fibre concrete, to develop formulations for transferring the laboratory properties to the mixing plant, as well as optimising the material properties when using steel fibre concrete in biogas technology. In addition, we were tasked to perform the necessary statical pre-calculations and preliminary dimensioning of the fibre concrete structures to allow for components to be dimensioned. Test walls at full scale were eventually produced and tested to determine the validity of the design-relevant parameters on the structure.
